Dino was confiscated from a neglectful home by Animal Control. When he was found he had advanced flea dermatitis, chronic major infections in both ears and both eyes. The shelter did what they could (shaved him, put him on antibiotics & got rid of the fleas), but his ears and eyes did not clear up. Because of this, no one wanted to adopt him until we stepped in to try and save his life.
His ear infections cleared up with daily care (although he has major scarring in the ear canals and his hearing is impaired), His left eye cleared up, but his right eye just wouldn't clear. Closer inspection (only possible once most of the infection/swelling was gone) showed that his eye lid was introverted & his eyelashes were scraping across the surface of his eye every time he blinked
This is a VERY painful condition & he needed immediate surgery to correct the problem. Prior to his surgery, Dino was afraid to be pet anywhere near his head. Now, just days afterwards, he is learning to enjoy being pet on the head & scratched
behind his ears.
He is a wonderfully loving boy that has had many years of pain yet holds no grudge against anyone. Can you find it in your heart to help us help him? He will be ready to start looking for a super special someone in another week or so.
