Charmed's Story'Did you ever need someone so bad? Did you ever need someone that you knew that you could not have? Did you ever try so hard that your world just falls apart? If you did, then you would know how I felt about Charmed and what happened to my world. But I didn't always feel this way. This story is dedicated to Charmed, the cat that broke my heart.

Charmed Charmed, laid to rest with all his favorite things

I took Charmed home and I buried him amongst my other feline companions. But first I took him back to the house so everyone could say their farewells. They all came in and sniffed as if to pay their last respects. His sister Beauty, who had not come in the night before, walked over and started to lick him on his face and ears. I guess she wanted him to look good when he got up to the Bridge to meet his new family. I was also surprised to watch her and her brother take turns sitting quietly next to Charmed as he lay in his little casket they had given me at the hospital. This lasted about an hour then his last sister finally walked over, sniffed, and walked away with her tail lowered. Muiesette and Charmed had always walked with their tails straight up and puffed out like little feather dusters.

TC, Beauty & CharmedTC and Beauty, saying their goodbyes to Charmed ...

This was one of the hardest burials I ever had to do. I just couldn't put him down in his final place of rest. It was so hard. I must have picked him up ten times if not more. I showered him with kisses and I gave him the things he loved most: his food, some toys, and his Buba. It just wasn't right for him not to have that with him.

It's hard to imagine going to the vet not having to listen to jazz. I will miss his silly little strides as he raced around the house. Charmed had a very unique wiggle when he ran. He would wiggle the front quarters one way and the back end the opposite way. It's hard to describe but the closest I can come is to say it was like a person imitating a man with a overly feminine walk. You had to laugh when he ran. It was the cutest thing I had ever seen. And I will not forget that silly little pout he had on his face when he couldn't get his way. Oh, I miss him so much.

  Muiesette Muiesette

There wasn't a cat that Charmed didn't like. He liked every one and tried to be everyone's buddy. I guess that's how he got into the situation of coming into contact with a cat carrying the FELV virus. No matter how many times any of my cats bat at him he just thought they were playing and he would turn the other way in hopes they would chase him or he would look at them with a puzzled look like "What did you do that for?" He had the sweetest and most unusual facial expressions I have ever seen. Sometimes he ran so fast that he would fall and slide along the floor. If someone was chasing him he would turn around and continue the chase. He didn't have a mean bone in his body.

CharmedCharmed looking out the window, a favorite past time ...

It's hard not to think of Charmed when my alarm goes off. I miss hearing that little whimper of a meow. Sometimes I lay quietly hoping to hear his little voice again but the room is silent. Funny how you miss these little thing that you take for granted. When I look out my computer room window I can't help but think of Charmed. He loved looking out the window. I would open it so he could smell all those good scents. Everything was such a thrill to him. I enjoyed standing next to him and watching with him as he explored things with his eyes. They would get bigger and bigger and sometimes he got so excited he would start to shake his head, look at me, and then look back outside as if to say "See that?" One day it was raining and as he was watching with his usual amazement I said to him "Aren't you glad you are in here instead of out there?" He looked at me, leaned his head onto my arm, licked my face, and stared at me with those soulful eyes. I said it again just to see what he would do and he repeated his loving gesture.
