Loving Touch Inc. - Bronx Project BRONX RESCUE PROJECT This is just one of the areas that we help animals! |
The Bronx project has been an ongoing project even before the start of Loving Touch. I feed stray/abandoned dogs in the South Bronx 3 to 4 times a week. I bring in the ones that are in need of immediate medical care and spay and neuter as many as we can get into the vets.
Because of this project many dogs have been rescued from the streets, and have been given a second chance at life. There are so many still out there that are waiting to be rescued. Won’t you please help us help them through your financial support?
You can help through a one-time donation or you can help by sponsoring the Bronx Project. Sponsorship is $10 per month or $100 for the entire year. You will receive regular updates on the progress of this project, pictures and a certificate as acknowledgement of your efforts. If you’re interested in helping with this very important project please email Zulma (myself) or Doreen. Below you will read about many wonderful rescues and happy endings. However, you will also read about the ones who are still out there waiting for a " LOVING TOUCH " - Here are their stories: |
BRONX RESCUE PROJECT These are some of the lucky ones
Trooper along with his mate Mecca and daughter Lady B all lived in a junkyard for many years in the South Bronx. Trooper was rescued in 97 and found a loving home in Texas where he still lives and is doing well! |
Lady B was also rescued in 97. A car hit her approximately 6 months prior to her rescue. Lady B’s owners did not take her to a vet for medical attention, her right hind leg could not be saved. Lady B, was adopted by a wonderful woman in College Point Unfortunately Mecca (Lady B’s mom) was also hit by a car. We were not notified until 3 days after her accident. Mecca’s injuries were so severe that could not be saved. |
Jack was what you would call a loner. I often wondered why Jack was always by himself and never seen with other dogs. I soon found out the reason why!! Jack was the bully of the block. He pushed his weight around with all the other male dogs from different packs, in order to mate with the females in their pack. I caught him several times picking fights with a feral young male that had been previously hit on the leg by a car. However, because he was feral I could not bring him in for medical care. Although there were other dogs that could have and should have been rescued before Jack, I chose to rescue Jack in order to remove him from the neighborhood and away from the other poor males that Jack fought with. Jack found a home in Connecticut and needless to say there was once again peace amongst the other pack dogs in the neighborhood. I later found out that the feral male with the broken leg was also rescued and taken to a sanctuary. |
It was a bitter cold and rainy day the day Bianca and her pups were rescued. Bianca was the first to greet us, and was only too eager to lead us to her puppies. It was as if she knew we were there to help. All 5 puppies found good homes. Bianca found a home in Connecticut. |
I'll never forget the day I received this call. Someone had put a 10-week-old male puppy in a box and left him by the curb. Someone left him there to be picked up the following morning by the garbage truck. How could I turn my back on this poor animal? I immediately covered him with a towel and off to the vets we went. A loving couple in Brooklyn adopted Charlie. This is truly a happy ending!
This is what your donations and help can accomplish. All of these dogs would certainly not have loving homes without our help, and without you we can't help the dogs, so please sponsor, donate supplies. And of course we always need money for medical care and boarding no monetary donation is too small, any amount will help. There are so many more waiting - thank you for caring :) |
Dogs We're Helping - Waiting For Homes |
Bobo has lived all his life tied to a chain. Whenever I feed him I have to do it whenever the owner is not around. The owner feels that a hungry dog makes a better guard dog. Bobo waits his turn at being rescued! His day will come, hopefully soon. |
Abby was rescued, from a neighborhood drug addict in the South Bronx in 98, along with her two puppies. By the time we got there, Abby's owner had sold most of her puppies. We were only able to rescue two of them. (photo left)
After some TLC this is what Abby looks like today. Big difference from when she was first rescued! Abby is on our available dogs page and would love to be adopted, if your interested in Abby, email me. (photo right) |
Luna although she does not get along with other dogs, Luna is a very sweet female Pit bull Terrier who loves being with people. She too waits her turn! |
Betsey is very friendly and sweet. Betsey has lived most of her life out on the streets and continues to wait her turn. Wouldn't you like to help Betsey?
All of these dogs - althought not lucky enough to be with their forever families yet are under our care. But again I stress, we can only help if you help, so please find alittle something extra for these dogs, they will be forever grateful!! |
