Happy Tails : Success Stories      For Once In My Life (click for song)
Jetta

Jetta - a 6 year old female pitbull. Jetta is a wonderful dog, however, she must be the ONLY PET. UPDATE - We had found a new home for Jetta, but her family decided when the time came they just couldn't part with her. So she still happily resides with her loving family!
Barcley

Barcley - is only 6 months old and appears to be an American Eskimo mix. He was found in the Bronx and taken to the police station where he was kept until we were able to pick him up. He is an adorable and lovable puppy who needs some TLC. His coat is in terrible shape, most likely due to poor nutrition. He has just been neutered and vaccinated and is now waiting for a secure home where he will be given the proper care.

ADOPTED Barcley was recently adopted by a very nice man who fell in love with the breed after fostering a friends dog for some time. When he saw Barcley's photo and read his story he knew that he had to help this little guy out. A meeting was arranged for the two to meet and it seemed like Barcley was very happy and eager to be adopted. Barcley now resides in Connecticut and will be treated like a KING! Who say's dreams can't come true?!
Sandy

Sandy - it took some time to find Sandy the perfect home but she is now happy and safe with her new owner and canine and feline friends. Because Sandy was abused and very shy it took a little time for her to feel comfortable and trust the woman who was interested in adopting her. It took several visits until she felt secure enough to leave her foster home. But with a lot of patience and understanding from her new mom everything worked out well and Sandy is now a part of her family.

ADOPTED
Maxi

Maxi - an adorable 5 year old Mini Pinscher. Maxi's owner has decided to put her up for adoption because her schedule is not allowing her to care for Maxi properly. Although Maxi is now living with relatives she needs to find a home ASAP. Maxi's favorite treat is cheese! She loves to play tug of war and she loves to play ball. She loves relaxing and sleeping curled up in a warm blanket or sheet. Maxi is a very smart dog. She is very energetic and playful. Once Maxi knows and trusts you she is very affectionate and loving. She may not be friendly with dogs at first but once she gets to know them she will be fine.

ADOPTED
Tina Cruz Tina Cruz

Tina - a tan female pitbull. Spayed and up to date with shots. Tina was rescued at 4 months from a burning building by an EMS worker. She was placed in a foster home where she was given a lot of attention. The family decided to adopt her. As Tina got older she became aggressive with the other dogs in the house. At this time Tina is 4 years old and her family thinks it's best to find her a good home where she will be the only dog. By the way she loves cats!! Tina is now boarding in a kennel. ADOPTED - Tina's found a wonderful home in Endicott NY. With a wonderful couple who have two children. She's the only pet in the home and Tina absolutely loves them and they love and adore her. You can see she's hogging the bed with her new Dad, not the best photo, but you get the idea!
Johnny   Stella

Johnny, Paulette (now Stella) pictured, Rosy and Georgette were rescued as young kittens from a resident's yard in Flushing. They were very nervous kittens and it took months before they trusted us. Johnny and Paulette came around nicely but Rosy and Georgette were still very frightened.

Update - Paulette was adopted by a very nice woman who had recently lost one of her two cats to a terrible illness. She adopted Paulette so she could be a companion to her cat Inky. Paulette was renamed Stella. Stella loves her new mom and is doing very well in her new home. Unfortunately Inky passed away several months later and Stella was left without a companion. Several weeks later Johhny was reunited with his sister for a "play date". His next visit started out as a "weekend sleepover" and he hasn't been home since! The brother and sister team are happy to be together again. They enjoy each others company and their mom is crazy about them.

JAMAICA AREA - MARCH 2001
Sweetie Sweetie

SWEETIE & ONLY 2 PUPS SURVIVE
Sweetie - was rescued from the Jamaica area in March. She was undernourished, thin, weak and pregnant. She was immediately taken in for medical care and we were told that she would be having her pups within the next week or so. She was very weak and there was no way that Sweetie could go under anesthesia at this time so abortion was out of the question. Besides the pups were ready to be born. Within the next 2 weeks Sweetie began delivering her first pup, however, there was a serious problem, hours had passed and Sweetie could not deliver the next pup. She was rushed to the vets office where she was examined and immediately given a c-section. The problem was that the next pup was stuck in the birth canal. Eight puppies were delivered that night, however, they were not in good shape. The staff divided up the pups and took them home for round the clock care and feedings. Sweetie was very weak and was in no shape to nurse her pups. Unfortunately each day that passed another puppy died. Only 2 puppies survived and they are now in need of loving homes. Sweetie is also in need of a loving home and will make a wonderful pet.

I was about to be taken to the pound by luckily I was taken in by a rescue group where I patiently wait for a new family to love me. I am very affectionate and will make a great companion. Hallie Boy and Tammy
Hallie Boy & Tammy - are adorable littermates who were rescued from Jamaica Estates after their mother was killed by stray dogs. They were adopted this past November but have been returned to us. These sweet cats need a home with someone who will be willing to work with them. They are a little on the shy side but will warm up to you when they get to know you. They are very active and love to play with each other. They are your typical kittens who want to explore. If you can provide a safe home for these littermates please Contact us for an interview. We would like to keep these scardy cats together.
