Happy Tails : Success Stories      For Once In My Life (click for song)
Duchess

Duchess - a senior German Shepherd. She is 10+ in age but in good health. She is a very gentle dog who is happy being around people. Duchess is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Duchess is part of a pack of dogs living in a lot in the Bronx. She is the oldest and has 2 offspring there with her however, they are not as brave as Duchess and won't come anywhere near people which has made it impossible to bring them in for medical care. Duchess just needs a nice comfortable home to retire in. Duchess is boarding in a kennel.

UPDATE   Duchess, our mascot, has also been adopted! She has been adopted by a family member and is doing very well, her story will follow soon.
Bessie

Bessie - is a very sweet Rottweiler who was abandoned in Kissena Park, in Flushing. Neighbors and park workers took a liking to her and chipped in to pay for her vet visit. Bessie was one of the lucky dogs who got to live in a foster home until a permanent home could be found. Bessie has been adopted by a wonderful couple who will be living on a farm. Bessie will have lots of room to run and play and will be living with other animals

ADOPTED
Chester

Chester - this beautiful senior Husky was found in Farmingdale, L.I. by an animal lover who could not take him into her home because of her 3 dogs. Since the dog was wearing his harness she felt that his owner would be looking for him. He was taken to a local KILL shelter where he patiently waited for his owner to rescue him. Unfortunately his owner was an elderly woman who could no longer care for him and did not want him back. Thanks to a very caring Long Island family this beautiful dog was saved just before he was scheduled to be euthanized. His new name is Chester and he is doing very well with his new family. He even has a brother and sister to spend time with. SENIOR DOGS MAKE WONDERFUL PETS!

Bella

Bella - this very sweet Rotteweiler was abandoned at a grooming shop in Brooklyn. The owners of the shop were kind enough to hold on to her for several weeks. They then contacted Loving Touch for help and agreed to continue caring for Bella until a good home could be found. We are happy to say that Bella is now living in a wonderful home in upstate New York. She has two wondeful parents and a Rottweiler companion.

Dominick

Dominick - was about 5 weeks old when a kind Whitestone resident found him between 2 fences in her backyard. He was all alone and crying for help. He was very skinny, very adorable and very affectionate. This sweet boy stayed with us until the perfect home came along. Dominick is now named MAX and he lives in Brooklyn with his mom and big feline brother Alex. Alex had recently lost his companion to a serous illness and he was extremely lonely and sad. Since Max has joined the family Alex has been much happier.

Christine

Christine - has been adopted by a very caring woman who lives in Bayside. When we took Christine to her new home she was very curious and purred the whole time she walked around the apt. She then discovered a very comfortable bed that her new mom had bought her. Christine is doing well and her mom is just head over heals in love with her.

ADOPTED
Goldie/Gucci

Goldie is now named Gucci - This sweet girl has a sad story. She was first rescued back in 1995 when she was found with a broken leg in 100 degree weather on the streets of College Point. She was immediately taken to the vet where her leg was set in a cast. She was lucky enough to be placed in a foster home where she remained until her leg was healed. In the meantime she delivered 4 puppies without anyone knowing she was pregnant. Goldie was adopted that Christmas to a family on Long Island. Although Goldie had separation anxiety the family managed to work things out until recently when a family member was very ill and Goldie was forced to spend many hours a day alone in her home. The separation from her family made her problem worse and it became dangerous to leave her unattended. Her problem got so bad that the family thought it would be best to place her in a new home. Goldie was returned to us but it wasn't long before a kind animal lover fell head over heals in love with her and she was adopted. Goldie was nervous and sad when we first took her back but after being with her new Mom she has gained her confidence back and little by little is overcoming her separation problem. Goldie is now named GUCCI and she is doing very well. Gucci now resides in Whitestone. She is a happy dog who loves people and other animals.

Onyx

Roxy (formely Onyx) - was skin and bones when she was rescued by a Woodhaven resident just one week ago (in late September). Onyx was discovered by the resident while he was walking his dog through Forest Park. This poor puppy was abandoned and left tied to a tree. She was skin and bones and could hardly stand up. She was weak and tired but very happy to be saved. Onyx is a playful and happy puppy that would love to be in a home. She is friendly toward dogs and seems to be okay around cats..

Peaches - was another of the four cats left behind when their owner died. Peaches is a very large calico who is extremely sweet and affectionate. She was lucky to have been fosted by one of our very caring volunteers until a home became available for her. Peaches has now found a wonderful home where she is the only pet. Although she had lived with other cats she prefers human companionship. Her new owners are in love with Peaches and she is fitting in wonderfully. Peaches also lives in Queens.

BUSTER - RESCUED FROM THE JAMAICA AREA
IN FEBRUARY 2001

picture 2 (4/29/2002)

Update - (3/2003) - Buster has won the hearts of his foster Mom and Dad and has been adopted. Buster was a skinny little pitbull when he first joined our group but he is now a very healthy and actually rather chubby fellow. Buster has a canine brother and sister to spend his days with. He is one happy dog!

Hello, my name is Buster. I am a brown pit bull and I am quite a nice fellow. I love to go for walks but it’s been said that I need to have obedience training, whatever that is, so that I can learn to walk properly on a leash. I know how to walk on a leash, you just pull as hard as you can, isn’t that right? I am such a special guy, I’ll bet you are too. Couldn’t we get to know each other?

ADOPTED
